Guided Walk in Cannon Hill Park

We are all very familiar with Cannon Hill Park, but how much do we know of its history? This is your chance to find out. It was gifted 150 years ago by the benefactor and philanthropist Louisa Ryland to the, then, town of Birmingham to be “a source of healthy recreation” for its people. Our expert guide has an extensive knowledge of local history and has worked in a variety of heritage projects in the Birmingham area. She will explain how the park evolved and how much of the original design and layout have survived.  She will also tell us about some intriguing recent discoveries.

Numbers are limited so this is on a strictly first come first served basis.

Meeting Point: In the foyer of the Midlands Arts Centre  

Parking: Plenty of paid parking in Queen’s Ride South Car Park, B12 9QH            

Duration: One to one-and-a-half hours.

You may like to join us for lunch afterwards at the Selly Park Tavern, 592 Pershore Rd., B29 7HQ. (There is free customer parking).        

Cost: £15 for members. £20 for non-members.

   Christmas Concert

Symphony Hall and The Exchange

Monday 7th December 2026 at 1.00pm

Get into the mood for Christmas! Join us at Symphony Hall for a lunchtime concert of glorious Christmas music from the renowned Birmingham City Organist, Thomas Trotter and the Choir of St John’s College, Cambridge.

Before the concert we are meeting from 11.00am onwards at The Exchange café which is the erstwhile home of the Municipal Bank built in 1933. You can purchase refreshments there.

Date and Time: Monday 7 December at 1.00pm.

Parking: Q-Park Brindleyplace and Q-Park Mailbox. There is Blue Badge parking at ICC car park requiring registration with the B Music Access Scheme and advance booking.

Duration: The concert will last for about an hour. Please note seating is unallocated.

Access: Symphony Hall is fully accessible and there is wheelchair space in the stalls and upper circle.

There is disabled access to The Exchange via Bridge Street and the North Entrance where there is a ramp and fully automated doors. There is also a ramp at the South Entrance.

Cost: £20 members; £25 non-members.  (Refreshments at The Exchange to be purchased separately on the day.)
